Knitting at Cheryl's birthday party

Was fantabulous fun! :-) We even managed to knit while playing bingo at the same time! I did today's KAL rows for the a Rachel's Knitting group yahoo group. Its totally a VW bug looking car on the bottom, but I haven't figured out what's on the top yet. I thought it was going to be clouds, but it is too even and regular looking. I guess I'll have to wait till tomorrow to find out. (The last rows get sent out tomorrow) And I started a garter ridges cloth out of the same colors as the peace sign cloth I did. I'm going to give it to the same lady. :-) I think Cheryl is right, she and Elaine and I need to get our VW bug cloths together and at least take a picture. They are all three different super bright colors. I think it would be fun to make a whole set in different colors as a gift set. Especially if you knew someone who had a bug. Wow, I'm tired. No idea why since I slept in this morning.

Baby Stuff

Here is the baby set I've been working on this summer. I think it all turned out really nice. The Bernat Satin was lovely to work with, so soft and smooth. It feels really good in your hands as you knit. This whole set is for Angie, who is due at the end of september. Her shower is today and I really hope she likes everything. Obviously I don't have baby bottles laying around my apartment, so I had to ask this nice water bottle to model the bottle cozy for me. I think its really cute, but I'll have to ask the couple of women I've given bottle cozies to if they ever use them. They knit up really fast, so its not a super huge deal. The blanket didn't quite fit on my dining room table, so I kind of blocked it in sections. Mainly I just misted it and straightened edges and any uneven stitches. It ended up so pretty! Here's the whole set before I made the bottle cozy. It gives a decent view of the booties and hat up against the blanket. You can see the wh

Exchanges, Yellow KALs, etc.

The green, tan, and white peace sign dishcloth I made for Cheryl, the wonderful woman who does my nails and who I also consider a really good friend. I'm going to miss her after I'm gone. This is actually the third cloth I've given her. I gave her one in a solid green last christmas and the textured ridges cloth I made in blue earlier this summer. I plan to give her one everytime I see her until I leave because I know she wants a whole set. I guess I better pick out a pattern for the next one. The daqueri cloth is soooooo cute. I made it for Shelly when we got partnered up for the knitdishcloths exchange. And because Shelley wants to spoil me rotten, this is what she gave me in the exchange! 3 beautiful cloths and an awesome soap sack that I have been using in the shower recently. The Christmas in July KAL was a lot of fun, and I think the ornament is adorable. Mine came out huge though, and I think it looks better on the "wrong side" than the right sid

Blanket

The baby blanket I have been working on for the last couple months is done. Yay! Its so pretty. And I made a hat to go with it. I'm working on booties too. I have one bootie almost done and hope to do the second during the show this afternoon. Maybe I'll even get around to doing the bottle cozy before I have to wrap it all to send to the shower. I don't want to post this pictures until after the shower, you never know who might be watching. I am refusing to let Harry Potter slow me down. Although he does keep me up late. I went to the Joann's website to look for that yarn I keep telling everyone I want to make the next baby blanket out of, but I couldn't find it. I guess I am just going to have to keep checking the store. I think it might be one of those things where they get what they get and you just have to wait around until they get what you want. I'll have to decide on a pattern eventually too. I started a knitting wish-list while browsing throu
I did another row on my Vogue Knitting tiered skirt! Go me! 5 more to go. 4 1/2, really, cause I got halfway around again before I had to go. I'm almost done with the baby blanket I'm working on right now. Which is good, cause I need to finish it, weave in the ends, and wrap it up to give to a friend to take to the baby shower by the middle of next week. I really hope to finish it tomorrow or the next day and be able to make a hat and booties to go with it. I do have shows to knit through tomorrow, saturday, and sunday, so that will help. :-) I'm glad I get to go to friday morning knitting group tomorrow! So I guess I better get some sleep or it might be hard to get up in the morning. G'night!

Yay for lots of things

Yay for Shelley and I both getting to go to knitting on friday. And yay for us getting to do our exchange from the Knitdishcloths yahoo group. :-) I took pictures of both the cloth I made her and the cloths (yes, thats plural) she made me. AND a soap sack. So very, very generous. And I love them all! And I'm glad she liked the squid soap and the knitting note cards I put with the daqueri cloth I made her. Anyway, I will post the pictures when there are enough pics on my camera to justify hooking it up and downloading them. Yay knit-knit-knitting away at work the last couple of days. I'm very happy with the progress I've made on the baby blanket I'm working on. Della complimented my ability to work on it and talk at the same time at the borders group on friday, which felt really good. Its really that the pattern basically repeats the same two lace rows with different numbers of start stitches, then you purl back. After having to unknit 3 rows of it a while b
I DO get to go to knitting in the morning! So, to all of you I told I wouldn't be seeing at Borders this week, I was wrong! My work schedule got changed, the lighting designer doesn't want to go in until one. YAY! Maybe I'll even get that exchange cloth for Shelly done tonight.

Nubbins

I think that the Nubbins pattern could make a really cute coaster. I was knitting a little Grandmother's Favorite style coaster yesterday and was thinking I want to do a whole set of coasters, each one different (same yearn, different patterns) and give them to a guy friend of mine. I'm using the cone of Blackwatch I just got in the mega-yarn shipment (thank you, Cheryl!!!) It knits up really, really nice. Shelly, I'm a little behind and not quite ready to exchange yet. But I'll let you know! My tummy is growling and I have to decide what to take to knit at work today.

Vogue

I have an extra copy of the Spring/summer Vogue Knitting. Don't even get me started on why. So I thought I'd offer it up. Does anyone (local) want it? I don't want to pay to ship it anywhere, but I'd be happy to fork it over to someone here in town.

Harry Potter & such

I made the Harry Potter washcloth that the link for has been circulating through all of the yahoo groups I belong to. Its really, really cute. I highly recommend it. I wish I had been able to take a picture of it, but I made it yesterday during the orchestra show we had in and then I gave it to my friend who had the tonsilectomy and is not doing so well. (Friday he had to go to the ER and have emergency surgery because he started bleeding really bad) I know a washcloth isn't much, but I just wanted to leave a little something along with all of the food I was shoving in the fridge. Today is my mom's birthday, and hopefully she and my dad got the package I mailed them. It was combined late father's day and birthday stuff. The two orange dishcloths in the slideshow, OSU and the Cowboy hat, were both for my dad (He went to Oklahoma State), and I can't wait to see if he could tell what they are. Today I actually have to work at work, not knit. Boo. I guess I gotta g
Its been a very yellow week for me and my KALs. I now have 2 yellow sun dishcloths, the only difference is the border. How funny that both the Monthly Dishcloth KAL and the Knitdishcloths KAL were basically the same this week. I decided to go ahead and start the dishclothfunknitalong KAL in yellow also, since my yarn bag seemed to already have a theme going on. I am using the cottontots for that one, though, so it will be a face cloth. Its pretty so far, but theres still a long way to go on that one. I finally finished tinking the few rows on that baby blanket I'm working on and I actually made some forward progress today. How about that. Its looking good. And its so soft to work on. I really like that Bernat Satin. Anyway, I heard a rumor that this girls baby shower is going to be at the end of July, so I really gotta get it in gear. Last night I knit a few rows on my ribbon dress while watching TV and it is soooooo pretty. I think I am really going to love the end res

If I could, I surely would

I wish I could be at borders this morning for knitting group, but alas, I must go to work instead. I added some more pictures to the end of the slide show and I'm going to give Cam his housewarming present of dishloths, scrubbies, a man-sized potholder, coasters, and a froggie washcloth and soap today. Hence the above picture. Ok, really gotta run now.

Did I knit in Vegas?

Of course I knit in Vegas! Duh. Everytime we were at the bar and Mark got up to go use the restroom I pulled out my linen stitch dishcloth that I've been carrying around in my purse. And in the morning (ok, afternoon, but it felt like morning) when I went downstairs to get much needed coffee I sat in the starbucks and started one of the many KALs that started this week. A big, huge, thank you to Cheryl for keeping me updated on the KALs and summer bingo. :-) Of course, Mark shook his head at me everytime I pulled out my knitting, but he never insisted I put it away. And I only had to tink 2 rows the whole time we were there. They were two rows I did in Rum Jungle and its just that I started with a k1 when I should have slipped one. If I had been on the other color, it would have been right. And I probaby could have left it anyway. Maybe no one would have noticed. Oh well. So I knit in the bar at the Luxor and at the bar at the Star Trek Experience where we had a wonder

More pics, you say?

Yes, more pics, I say! I actually added these to the slide show yesterday, but then I had to run off to work, so I didn't have time to post about them. First we have the soap sack and nubbins dishcloth that I made for Kelly for her birthday. :-) Next up we have a couple of dishcloths. The neon green and tan and white was an attempt at dessert camo-ishness, which was an idea one of my guy friends actually came up with. It turned out too neon green heavy, but I sent it with the previously posted army cloth to my friend Chris anyway. The blue, maroon and cream cloth is the mid-month June KAL from the monthly dishcloth KAL group. Last, but certainly not least, we have just a couple more goodies I made for baby Caden. I gave them to Melinda yesterday when I went over to meet him. He's adorable. :-) The first thing is a bottle cozy and then next is the second size up of the bootie I made to go with his blanket. And more to come soon! Yesterday I made a frog washcloth for Cameron ou
