You waited so patiently

So here it finally is! The Greetings From Knit Cafe skirt done in KnitPicks Cot-Lin Morracan Red. Ta-da!

First we have the bound off and ends woven in version, still in need of somekind of a drawsting at the waist and possible decoration through the eyelet row. Then we have the finished version complete with ribbon just waiting to be worn. And I think the rest of the pictures can speak for themselves. We have the Christmas Eve family photo and then some my sister took at home in front of the christmas tree, trying to get every angle of the skirt. **Edit, the published post ended up with the pictures in a different order than I put them in, so reverse that.

I may be biased, but I think the skirt looks great! I was really happy with how easily and how well this pattern worked up. The measurements were pretty accurate, so the fit is pretty close to perfect. So if someone asked if I would recommend this project, the answer would be definitely yes. :-)
I wish I had more time to write, but work calls!

look at how nice and flat your knitting is! Wonderful job! OK, which are your sibs--far right and by your mom? Your new puppy is a fuzzball!

Ok, my sister is the one in the black and white swirly dress on the other side of the picture. My brother is down on one knee by my mom, and of course, my dad is holding the fuzzball.

Oh, one more thing, how close of a call was it with the CotLin? Did you need more than the pattern said?

I had 1 2/3 balls of the cot-lin leftover, so I would have been short by 1/3 of a ball if I hadn't gotten those two extra from you, Shelley. Perhaps in bigger skeins with less joining, the pattern yardage would have been closer to accurate. And since I was always joining where the seam would have been if I'd had a seam, there were times I had really long tails leftover.

GIVEAWAY!!!

As many of you know, I love working with hand dyed yarn.  I especially love Farm Girl Fiber yarn!  Bridgette has an eye for color and has a lot of fun with what she does.  That is why I am so super thrilled that Farm Girl Fiber is sponsoring this giveaway in honor of my opening an etsy shop!   Before the goods, a recap:  I made this Acorn Head hooded cowl for myself on Christmas this year.  I've known pretty much since I bought the yarn exactly what it was going to be, I just had to find time to do it.  This cowl was out of my FGF birthday yarn!  You can't tell in the picture, but it has just this hind of sparkle to it.  Love! I made 2 of these for two different swaps and I really wish I had made and kept one for myself while she still had the yarn!  It was so super soft and super bulky and fantastic!  Sometimes Farm Girl Fiber has very limited lots of things, so if you find something you love, you really need to snatch it up. ...

Ridiculously Easy 3x3 hat

So I was on my way out the door to the St. Louis Cardinals game a couple nights ago when I realized I didn't have any purse size knitting on hand. I grabbed a ball of bernat chunky and a pair of size 10 16" circs out of my travel bag and stuffed them into my purse to contemplate at the game. I wanted something so super easy that by the time the game started I wouldn't have to think about it. I feel almost silly sharing this pattern, but I figured why not. So here is the hat: I don't really intend to turn up the edge to make a brim, but my model had trouble keeping it on otherwise. Its really stretchy and should fit almost any adult head. Its long enough to cover your ears, so if you really want a brim, go ahead and flip up the edge. Ok, here goes the pattern: Ridiculously Easy 3x3 Hat Yarn: I used Bernat Chunky Needles: Size 10 16" Circs or preferred method of knitting in the round CO 60 stitches and join for knitting in the round. Work in 3x3 rib for 7 inche...

Production Day & Giveaway!

There is less than a week until the Arkansas Fiber Arts Extravaganza. Even though my stitch markers didn't move well at Indie Emporium, I have high hopes for them this coming weekend. This audience will be completely different, for starters. This time it is a fiber specific event and the people who are coming should actually know what they are! Despite not being very down in inventory, I decided to have a production day to add variety to my stock. It started out as me thinking, oh I'll just make a few today while I have some time. Then I got going and decided I was having fun, so why not have some Chai and make some more. Riley helped by pushing me off the sofa more than once. Ripley did too, but I didn't catch a picture of him doing it. By mid afternoon I had opened new beads, fixed myself a tray of grapes and cheese, finished off the chai and was grooving at a pretty good pace. By the time I needed to get up and get going for my evening plans I had made 15 new sets,...
