GIVEAWAY!!!

As many of you know, I love working with hand dyed yarn.  I especially love Farm Girl Fiber yarn!  Bridgette has an eye for color and has a lot of fun with what she does.  That is why I am so super thrilled that Farm Girl Fiber is sponsoring this giveaway in honor of my opening an etsy shop!

Before the goods, a recap:
I made this Acorn Head hooded cowl for myself on Christmas this year.  I've known pretty much since I bought the yarn exactly what it was going to be, I just had to find time to do it.
This cowl was out of my FGF birthday yarn!  You can't tell in the picture, but it has just this hind of sparkle to it.  Love!

I made 2 of these for two different swaps and I really wish I had made and kept one for myself while she still had the yarn!  It was so super soft and super bulky and fantastic!  Sometimes Farm Girl Fiber has very limited lots of things, so if you find something you love, you really need to snatch it up.  My whole Monday night knitting group went mad over this super squishy bulky yarn and now it's all gone!

Ok, she didn't dye this one, but she spun it!
I made two hats out of a single skein of bulky merino just a week or so ago.

And, of course, my honeymoon shawl!  (Yes, if your husband is ok with it you are definitely allowed to knit on your honeymoon, just don't go overboard.  You are especially allowed to knit if you are on a tiny island in Fiji with no internet, phone or TV for a whole week and you can watch the water better when you are knitting than when you are reading.  I miss Fiji.)

I always get compliments on the colors of the things I knit from Farm Girl Fiber yarn.  I still have a stash of it in my craft room.  I have one skein that is all warm golds and it told me that it needs to be fingerless gloves.  :-)  Sometimes they just speak to you, you know?

Bridgette's plans for this winter include concentrating on sock yarns and roving, but if you are wondering about a custom order or have questions, you can always drop her a line.  I haven't heard what her next show might be, but when I do I will definitely let everyone know.

If you want to see more projects with Farm Girl Fiber yarn, there is a ravelry group you can go check out!

And finally, the goods:
It's actually hard for me to give this away, I adore the colors.
This skein is 400 yards of Merino/Nylon superwash sock yarn.
While it would make beautiful socks, I think it would also make a fantastic little shawl.

I love the ridged moebius! I made one once but had to frog it because it turned out way too big for what I had in mind - one of these days I'm going to make myself another one. :)
I'm already a fb fan of FGF - hope that counts! :)

Psst! It's Susan!

I like the Slipping Away cowl best, but I love that the Princess Amelie has no animal fibers. Mmmmm, a winter without itching.

Gave Bridget's FB a thumbs up. Be warned, I have a FB account only as a technicality. However, I still wear my Hatchet Attack armwarmers with pride, and I've got just enough left to combine it with some black sock yarn (when I get some) and make a badass beret of DOOM.

I like the ridged mobius. I would like to see some delicate cowls - something light and lacy but still warm.
:) good to know that you were able to do some relaxing knitting while honeymooning

The Slipping Away Cowl is lovely - some more tinted subtle shades like this would be great to add :)

Okay, reading the comment you left on my blog just made me fall in love with you!! Hahaha the comment just got better as I read more!! (A room full of yarn? AH! I AM SO JEALOUS!!) Happy 7th month anniversary!! :)

I saw a kit on Etsy that teaches you how to spin yarn. I want to learn! I've never done it before, but I hope to one day have a farm with tons of sheep (and maybe some alpacas?) and I would LOVE to make my own yarn!

Her yarn is absolutely gorgeous, as are the items you created from it! Love!

I just hearted your shop on Etsy! I think the colours in the slipping away cowl are just SO pretty!
I am now a follower of your blog! :)
And I "liked" Farm Girl Fiber on facebook! Thanks so much for hosting this giveaway! :)

Ridiculously Easy 3x3 hat

So I was on my way out the door to the St. Louis Cardinals game a couple nights ago when I realized I didn't have any purse size knitting on hand. I grabbed a ball of bernat chunky and a pair of size 10 16" circs out of my travel bag and stuffed them into my purse to contemplate at the game. I wanted something so super easy that by the time the game started I wouldn't have to think about it. I feel almost silly sharing this pattern, but I figured why not. So here is the hat: I don't really intend to turn up the edge to make a brim, but my model had trouble keeping it on otherwise. Its really stretchy and should fit almost any adult head. Its long enough to cover your ears, so if you really want a brim, go ahead and flip up the edge. Ok, here goes the pattern: Ridiculously Easy 3x3 Hat Yarn: I used Bernat Chunky Needles: Size 10 16" Circs or preferred method of knitting in the round CO 60 stitches and join for knitting in the round. Work in 3x3 rib for 7 inche

Production Day & Giveaway!

There is less than a week until the Arkansas Fiber Arts Extravaganza. Even though my stitch markers didn't move well at Indie Emporium, I have high hopes for them this coming weekend. This audience will be completely different, for starters. This time it is a fiber specific event and the people who are coming should actually know what they are! Despite not being very down in inventory, I decided to have a production day to add variety to my stock. It started out as me thinking, oh I'll just make a few today while I have some time. Then I got going and decided I was having fun, so why not have some Chai and make some more. Riley helped by pushing me off the sofa more than once. Ripley did too, but I didn't catch a picture of him doing it. By mid afternoon I had opened new beads, fixed myself a tray of grapes and cheese, finished off the chai and was grooving at a pretty good pace. By the time I needed to get up and get going for my evening plans I had made 15 new sets,
