Being sick productively

Hopefully I am getting better.  Sometimes it's a little hard to tell as the sinus pressure pounds and thuds inside my head.  Yay for throbbing, right?  But I did use my down time productively again yesterday.  I didn't get any of the Christmas decorations put away, and I really would have liked to, but I did get a lot of knitting done.

Here is the lacy mohair scarf that I showed the beginnings of in my last post.  I know its hard to see the pastel colors against the red wall, but they are there.
I finally tucked in the ends to Ben's Cashmerino Aran Gaiter that I made for him like 2 years ago.  It's been sitting in the "Please tuck in the ends" bin for all that time.  Its a medium blue and a dark hunter green, that didn't translate too well in the pic.
Then I whipped up a hat with some fantastic Farm Girl Fiber bulky.  It looks pretty good on my new display stand, eh?  My sister got it for me for Christmas.  It will be perfect for taking to shows!
Here's the top of the hat.
As cool as it looked, I decided to try it again in a tighter gauge with more of that same skein.  I know this pic is blurry, but the difference is from a size 11 needle on the first one to I think a 9 on the second (I'd have to find my needle sizer, which seems to be missing.

It's back to work today, so the insane productivity time of being sick is done.  It didn't feel like much of a holiday weekend, but at least I had a little time to get rested without feeling bad about missing work.  I hope everyone else had a much more exciting new years.

GIVEAWAY!!!

As many of you know, I love working with hand dyed yarn.  I especially love Farm Girl Fiber yarn!  Bridgette has an eye for color and has a lot of fun with what she does.  That is why I am so super thrilled that Farm Girl Fiber is sponsoring this giveaway in honor of my opening an etsy shop!   Before the goods, a recap:  I made this Acorn Head hooded cowl for myself on Christmas this year.  I've known pretty much since I bought the yarn exactly what it was going to be, I just had to find time to do it.  This cowl was out of my FGF birthday yarn!  You can't tell in the picture, but it has just this hind of sparkle to it.  Love! I made 2 of these for two different swaps and I really wish I had made and kept one for myself while she still had the yarn!  It was so super soft and super bulky and fantastic!  Sometimes Farm Girl Fiber has very limited lots of things, so if you find something you love, you really need to snatch it up.  My whole Monday night knitting group went mad ov

Ridiculously Easy 3x3 hat

So I was on my way out the door to the St. Louis Cardinals game a couple nights ago when I realized I didn't have any purse size knitting on hand. I grabbed a ball of bernat chunky and a pair of size 10 16" circs out of my travel bag and stuffed them into my purse to contemplate at the game. I wanted something so super easy that by the time the game started I wouldn't have to think about it. I feel almost silly sharing this pattern, but I figured why not. So here is the hat: I don't really intend to turn up the edge to make a brim, but my model had trouble keeping it on otherwise. Its really stretchy and should fit almost any adult head. Its long enough to cover your ears, so if you really want a brim, go ahead and flip up the edge. Ok, here goes the pattern: Ridiculously Easy 3x3 Hat Yarn: I used Bernat Chunky Needles: Size 10 16" Circs or preferred method of knitting in the round CO 60 stitches and join for knitting in the round. Work in 3x3 rib for 7 inche

Production Day & Giveaway!

There is less than a week until the Arkansas Fiber Arts Extravaganza. Even though my stitch markers didn't move well at Indie Emporium, I have high hopes for them this coming weekend. This audience will be completely different, for starters. This time it is a fiber specific event and the people who are coming should actually know what they are! Despite not being very down in inventory, I decided to have a production day to add variety to my stock. It started out as me thinking, oh I'll just make a few today while I have some time. Then I got going and decided I was having fun, so why not have some Chai and make some more. Riley helped by pushing me off the sofa more than once. Ripley did too, but I didn't catch a picture of him doing it. By mid afternoon I had opened new beads, fixed myself a tray of grapes and cheese, finished off the chai and was grooving at a pretty good pace. By the time I needed to get up and get going for my evening plans I had made 15 new sets,
