I don't like that tax season means less knitting. :-P

I have managed to get a few things done recently though. I finished the tank top I was working on. My mom's knitting group decided to make shells and for them it will be their first article of clothing. So I decided to participate but I picked out a harder pattern than the one they were using. I really expected it to take longer because the pattern is out of Interweave Summer 07 and its the Lu-somethingoranother shell with and inverted v neck and lace straps/shoulders. Anyway, I got a lot done this weekend and I was so close to finishing on sunday evening that I just pushed through so I could wear it to work on monday. I'll post some pictures soon. I definitely didn't get enough sleep sunday night, but it was worth it.

Last night at knitting group I started a felted purse for a purse exchange with the TeaTimeKnitters group. I can't talk too much about it because I want my exchange partner to be suprised, but I started with a very basic pattern and I'm altering it quite a bit to give it an individual feel. Hopefully she will like it.

I've spent a lot of time sorting and catagorizing my yarn lately. I have 2 sets of 4 (so 8) canvas storage totes that my mom gave me for valentines and easter so I have been trying to neaten up the giant pile that has been occupying a very large space in my front bedroom. Its getting there. I have so much I want to do! I wish I could knit, knit, knit, all the time.

Ok, back to the tax grind.

ah yes, I forgot it was busy tax season for you. Well, I did get the "Econ. Stimulation" letter, and figure we will get diddly, but thanks, George, for getting my hopes up first. You should be nice and ready for vaca for sis' graduation.
I'm working on 2 baby blankets-cabled, striped, from Comfort from a pattern Cheryl found. My friend is having her first grandbaby, and I don't know the gender yet, so: one boy and one girl blankie. Super easy with it being a 10 row repeat with only one row of pattern and the rest 'knit what you see'. Then we're trying to make more chemo caps for Carol to take to Cedars. So far I have one this month. Huh, I am really not knitting anything else! Boring. I am going to give some of my kitchen cotton to my college friend Maria. But she has been knitting the same dc for 2 weeks at Eva's, so I'm not sure how much yarn she needs! I was cleaning off my sewing table and piled all my yarn on the opposite wall. I need to get out some tubs or something, even if I give Maria a ton.
I saw Grace at the quilt shop! Funny.

I have a couple Chemo caps for Carol that I will bring with me when I come visit. Speaking of which, thursday the 24th can I maybe spend the night? :-) I need to start a couple of afghans and a baby blanket. The gender of the baby should be found out this week. I want to make my sister something for her graduation as well. I have a couple of ideas, but I haven't started anything yet. If you want to knit tiny things that you can finish quickly I have a friend who works in the NICU here in town and needs more premie caps. :-)

still working on the baby blankets...They ea. have 9 stripes, and one has 6 done and one has 5 done.
Are you doing Speed Stix for the afghans? LMK if you want the cabled baby pattern.

Ridiculously Easy 3x3 hat

So I was on my way out the door to the St. Louis Cardinals game a couple nights ago when I realized I didn't have any purse size knitting on hand. I grabbed a ball of bernat chunky and a pair of size 10 16" circs out of my travel bag and stuffed them into my purse to contemplate at the game. I wanted something so super easy that by the time the game started I wouldn't have to think about it. I feel almost silly sharing this pattern, but I figured why not. So here is the hat: I don't really intend to turn up the edge to make a brim, but my model had trouble keeping it on otherwise. Its really stretchy and should fit almost any adult head. Its long enough to cover your ears, so if you really want a brim, go ahead and flip up the edge. Ok, here goes the pattern: Ridiculously Easy 3x3 Hat Yarn: I used Bernat Chunky Needles: Size 10 16" Circs or preferred method of knitting in the round CO 60 stitches and join for knitting in the round. The Illy Cowl & Pattern

I was inspired by the fabulous Ilene of Much Love, Illy and her love for mustard colored accent pieces, so when she very patiently dealt with my first blog advertising endeavor, I decided to send her a little something.  I had some designs floating around in my head, but this one spoke to me as really being her style, so the Illy Cowl was born.  (picture stolen from Ilene, with her permission of course)  Here's a couple close-ups.  It's an easy, fairly open lace-work pattern that looks far more complicated than it actually is.  It's also lightweight and comfortable on.    I played around and took some pics before I mailed it off.  Last week I worked on a purple version, which I inadvertently made wider than the original.  (Nothing like screwing up your own pattern, huh?)  I forgot that I only put one repeat of garter rows between the lace repeats, oh well.  The mix up caused me to run out of yarn in the middle of THE VERY LAST ROW.  Sooooo frustrating!  And it was during
