3rd and Final Shower

At the third shower I did super soft bathy washcloths, with the exception of the frist cloth. My brother was in town for this particular shower, so I also tried to make sure at least one of the designs would appeal to him. The colors match the towels they register for, for the most part, and the I Love This Yarn brand yarn (it was my first time using it) is incredibly soft and wonderful to work with. I really loved using it.

First we have, and I know its kind of hard to see in this picture, the wedding bands cloth made out of sinfonia that didn't quite make it into the present the day before. It was close, but it just wasn't ready.

Next is the cloth I made to appeal to my brother. I was going to try and make a whole set with this theme, but I just ran out of time. Oh well, maybe sometime in the future. You all know what it is, right?

The yarn was so soft. I know I said that already. I did a simple garter ridges cloth to match the towels. Thats always a fun and simple way to combine two colors. Probably one of the easiest ways. That and the linen stitch. I really like the way linen stitch looks too.

And last, but actually made first, is the wedding cake cloth. I really thought Rachel would like this one. I love how the layers are made out of different stitch patterns. I have seen other wedding cake dishcloth patterns, but this one is by far my favorite. :-)

I didn't add anything to the cloths this time. I had thought about getting a nice soap or two or something, but time got away from me.

So now that all the wedding showers are over and the things are gifted, i am almost at the start of my year of no deadline knitting or knitting freedom. I do have to make a dishcloth for a swap and one other very small commitment, but then its whatever I want to do. I have taken a break and have been working a lot on my Candle Flame shawl and my knitpicks cowl in ridiculously bright colors. The cowl is still at the stage it fits easily in a bag in my purse, and it might always be that way, even as it gets longer it folds up pretty small. :-) and its easy to carry around one ball of lace weight yarn. Both the malabrigo lace (Candle Flame Shawl) and the KnitPicks Shadow (Cowl) are wonderful to work with. That candle flame shawl is going to take me 10 years though. Its seriously been forever since I cast it on. I cast on one night at Eva's. Which means it was in 07. I probably worked on it a few weeks there and then I hadn't worked on it again until this month. I was really worried that my tension had changed or something would go terribly wrong, but so far so good, its looking really nice. Now I just hope I get some blocking wires before its time to block it...

Ridiculously Easy 3x3 hat

So I was on my way out the door to the St. Louis Cardinals game a couple nights ago when I realized I didn't have any purse size knitting on hand. I grabbed a ball of bernat chunky and a pair of size 10 16" circs out of my travel bag and stuffed them into my purse to contemplate at the game. I wanted something so super easy that by the time the game started I wouldn't have to think about it. I feel almost silly sharing this pattern, but I figured why not. So here is the hat: I don't really intend to turn up the edge to make a brim, but my model had trouble keeping it on otherwise. Its really stretchy and should fit almost any adult head. Its long enough to cover your ears, so if you really want a brim, go ahead and flip up the edge. Ok, here goes the pattern: Ridiculously Easy 3x3 Hat Yarn: I used Bernat Chunky Needles: Size 10 16" Circs or preferred method of knitting in the round CO 60 stitches and join for knitting in the round. Production Day & Giveaway!

There is less than a week until the Arkansas Fiber Arts Extravaganza. Even though my stitch markers didn't move well at Indie Emporium, I have high hopes for them this coming weekend. This audience will be completely different, for starters. This time it is a fiber specific event and the people who are coming should actually know what they are! Despite not being very down in inventory, I decided to have a production day to add variety to my stock. It started out as me thinking, oh I'll just make a few today while I have some time. Then I got going and decided I was having fun, so why not have some Chai and make some more. Riley helped by pushing me off the sofa more than once. Ripley did too, but I didn't catch a picture of him doing it. By mid afternoon I had opened new beads, fixed myself a tray of grapes and cheese, finished off the chai and was grooving at a pretty good pace.
