I'm back from a fantastic 2 week vacation! There were so many parts to our vacation that it is going to take me days to cover it all. We left town 2 weeks ago today and drove east. We took 2.5 days to do the drive across, ultimately to Charleston, and stayed one night with my lovely godsister in her super cute yellow home in a teeny tiny town where we actually ate at a restaurant called Taco Sushi. Yes, Taco Sushi. I know it sounds weird. One side of the menu is all mexican food and the other side is all sushi and apparently they do both well. It was actually quite fantastic.
After leave there it was off to our 5 day cruise to the Bahamas. I must admit, we weren't all crazy like with the picture taking. We were a little more into the relaxing and eating. So. Much. Food.
I did take pictures of our towel animals every evening. Cause I'm a dork like that and I thought they were cute. (Although I am not a big enough dork to buy the book of how to make them or anything) I admit that going in to this I was worried about whether or not the motion of the boat would bother me and that first night it definitely did. I didn't ever get full blown seasick, but I definitely noticed the rocking and was a bit queasy that first night. After that it got much better but every once in a while I would notice it a lot.
The first full day at sea was all about lounging, swimming, mini golf, and more food. No, I didn't take pictures of any of the food but I did enjoy eating every last bit of it.
He's laughing at me for taking his picture even though I had only taken like 3 pictures the whole cruise up to this point.
Our second towel animal was apparently an Ant Eater. We had to have a little help figuring this out because to me it really looked like a Sphinx.
Our first port of call was Freeport. The boat docs in a very industrial area, so we grabbed a cab over to the main shopping area and then walked to a nice stretch of public beach.
The water was really warm and bobbed around in it for a while until it started to rain. We had walked quite a ways down the beach to get away from the crowds so we had quite a long run back to this measly spot of shelter offered by the covered deck of a tiny restaurant/bar. After a bit of the rain continuing to just get harder, we opted for a cab back to the boat so we could warm up with hot showers and hot lunch.
By the time we were leaving Freeport the sun was back out and we enjoyed watching the departure. Despite the warm outdoor weather, the boat over air conditioned all of its indoor areas, like the dining rooms and theater, so I had to carry either a sweater or a wrap every evening.
Our towel animal that night was a cute little elephant. How adorable is he? So there you go, the first couple days of our adventure in gluttony cruise. I'll be back soon with part two.
