Rachel's First Shower

I spent a lot of time picking out some awesome yarns and knitting up a bunch of dishcloths, washcloths, and the like for my soon to be sister-in-law over the last few months. Finally over the last two weeks we have had 3 wedding showers for me to divide them up and give them all to her. I had to come up with a way to divide them up, so for shower number 1 I went with all the kitchen cloths. I managed to not get a picture of the Friendship Chain Cloth or the orange and black scrubbie that was completed in the car on the way to the shower and tied to the bow on top of the present.
This is the Lionbrand dishcloth pattern. Its always knits up nicely and is a good one for pretty variegated yarns. :-) All of these dishcloths were Sugar and Cream naturals, btw.

The little scrubbie above is also sugar and cream, even though the original pattern calls for acrylic yarns and has you spear the scrubbie on a fork and stick it in the dishwasher to clean it. I thought this might be easier. But the orange and black one is of the acrylic variety, so we'll see which she likes best. My brother, upon looking at them all later, says "what are those egg things?" Despite the fact that I printed out cards labeling each and every item and tied them to them. Hmmmm. He's going to graduate from medical school? Really? Maybe his head is just full.
This is a nubbins dishcloth, which looks much harder and much more impressive than it actually is because of the little nubs on each end. Very simple to make, and rather fast too.

I wish I had gotten a picture of the friendship chain cloth, I really liked the colors. It was darker than these other cloths, richer browns and rusts, really.

So I paired the 3 cloths and 2 scrubbies with an oil bottle, 2 pink and brown oven mitts and 2 adorable brown hot pads with cute little cupcakes in the center. I think Rachel really liked the whole package.

Coming soon, showers 2 & 3. Bet you're excited. :-P

GIVEAWAY!!!

As many of you know, I love working with hand dyed yarn.  I especially love Farm Girl Fiber yarn!  Bridgette has an eye for color and has a lot of fun with what she does.  That is why I am so super thrilled that Farm Girl Fiber is sponsoring this giveaway in honor of my opening an etsy shop!   Before the goods, a recap:  I made this Acorn Head hooded cowl for myself on Christmas this year.  I've known pretty much since I bought the yarn exactly what it was going to be, I just had to find time to do it.  This cowl was out of my FGF birthday yarn!  You can't tell in the picture, but it has just this hind of sparkle to it.  Love! I made 2 of these for two different swaps and I really wish I had made and kept one for myself while she still had the yarn!  It was so super soft and super bulky and fantastic!  Sometimes Farm Girl Fiber has very limited lots of things, so if you find something you love, you really need to snatch it up. ...

Which Would You Pick??
