So I didn't knit much in Fiji, but I did knit a little bit. I started the Anne Lace Shawl from the Knitting Pattern a Day Calendar, I forget which year. Anyway, I had this beautiful sock yarn that Bridgette (Farm Girl Fiber) dyed and I decided it really needed to be a shawl.
The colors were perfect for knitting in Fiji. They matched everything! The water, the pool, the trees, the chairs, my outfits -- it was actually kind of funny.
See?
The pattern knits up really pretty and the whole center section is just a one row repeat, so it was really easy to memorize. It made for a great carrying around project and its easy to either knit for a long time or just pull out and do a row.
I'm determined to try and stick with it until the end and I have worked on it since I got back. In fact, I spent quite a bit of time knitting on it waiting to change my name, since I am a married woman now. Those places are not quick, so I was glad to have something to do. Everyone else there looked so bored, but I could have kept knitting forever. But there's only about a foot done right now and I think its supposed to be 5 feet when all is said and done (although I don't know if I have enough yarn for that. I only have one 400 yard skein and the pattern calls for 550 yards, I think, so I was just planning to make it shorter.). Its going to be so pretty when its done!!
As many of you know, I love working with hand dyed yarn. I especially love Farm Girl Fiber yarn! Bridgette has an eye for color and has a lot of fun with what she does. That is why I am so super thrilled that Farm Girl Fiber is sponsoring this giveaway in honor of my opening an etsy shop! Before the goods, a recap: I made this Acorn Head hooded cowl for myself on Christmas this year. I've known pretty much since I bought the yarn exactly what it was going to be, I just had to find time to do it. This cowl was out of my FGF birthday yarn! You can't tell in the picture, but it has just this hind of sparkle to it. Love! I made 2 of these for two different swaps and I really wish I had made and kept one for myself while she still had the yarn! It was so super soft and super bulky and fantastic! Sometimes Farm Girl Fiber has very limited lots of things, so if you find something you love, you really need to snatch it up. ...
