Production Day & Giveaway!

There is less than a week until the Arkansas Fiber Arts Extravaganza. Even though my stitch markers didn't move well at Indie Emporium, I have high hopes for them this coming weekend. This audience will be completely different, for starters. This time it is a fiber specific event and the people who are coming should actually know what they are!
Despite not being very down in inventory, I decided to have a production day to add variety to my stock. It started out as me thinking, oh I'll just make a few today while I have some time.
Then I got going and decided I was having fun, so why not have some Chai and make some more.
Riley helped by pushing me off the sofa more than once. Ripley did too, but I didn't catch a picture of him doing it.
By mid afternoon I had opened new beads, fixed myself a tray of grapes and cheese, finished off the chai and was grooving at a pretty good pace.
By the time I needed to get up and get going for my evening plans I had made 15 new sets, which totaled 77 individual stitch markers. I have to admit, I still LOVE the giant pearl sets, the last couple of those sets got me a lot of compliments. And I like the clear bead sets for their clean looking style, although they are hard to photograph.

I am very excited about this coming weekend. I hope to sell lots but also to meet some great new fiber people. These events are always so much fun because of the sense of community among spinners and stitchers. I hope if you are in the area that you join us.

In honor of my super stitch marker production day, I am giving away a set of markers this week!! They are a set of medium markers with amber beads. They will fit up to a size 15 knitting needle comfortably. So here is how you enter:

I just love to walk around and get inspired! And, well, snicker at what some people think passes for "hand crafted." Here's a hint: If you can buy it by a case of 100, it isn't hand crafted!

I love craft fairs or bazars because they are a great place to get ideas and inspiration of what I should make next.

I love looking at everyone's creativity! Especially looking at things that are too advanced for me or use crafts that I don't do. Inspiring!

P.S. Your stitch markers look great !

I like to see how creative other people are. I'm always amazed at what people will think of doing. I'm crafty, and I can follow a pattern well, but I don't really do the original idea thing well.

I'm so jealous of you going to the Arkansas Fiber Arts Extravaganza. Maybe I'll get to go next year when the kids (hopefully!!) won't have so much going.

Your stitch markers are gorgeous!r

I love to go to craft shows to see what's going on in the world, check out what's hot and new and selling like hot cakes.

I like to go to meet new people and just soak in the ambiance.

Ooh, pretty shinies. =) I wholeheartedly approve!

I think my favorite thing about fiber shows is the camaraderie. I don't get to go very often for allergy reasons (BOO!!!), but it's always fun to get to a point where everyone just sits down to knit and gab.

(This is Seward, btw. Or Susan. I answer to both.)

I love fiber and craft shows both for the amazing things I'll see and want (and, in the case of yarn and notions, often end up buying) and for the inspiration from and sheer awe of some of the things people make.

My favorite thing about going to the shows is all the random things that are so clever and creative.
And all the beautiful colors. :)

Ridiculously Easy 3x3 hat

So I was on my way out the door to the St. Louis Cardinals game a couple nights ago when I realized I didn't have any purse size knitting on hand. I grabbed a ball of bernat chunky and a pair of size 10 16" circs out of my travel bag and stuffed them into my purse to contemplate at the game. I wanted something so super easy that by the time the game started I wouldn't have to think about it. I feel almost silly sharing this pattern, but I figured why not. So here is the hat: I don't really intend to turn up the edge to make a brim, but my model had trouble keeping it on otherwise. Its really stretchy and should fit almost any adult head. Its long enough to cover your ears, so if you really want a brim, go ahead and flip up the edge. Ok, here goes the pattern: Ridiculously Easy 3x3 Hat Yarn: I used Bernat Chunky Needles: Size 10 16" Circs or preferred method of knitting in the round CO 60 stitches and join for knitting in the round. Work in 3x3 rib for 7 inche

The Illy Cowl & Pattern

I was inspired by the fabulous Ilene of Much Love, Illy and her love for mustard colored accent pieces, so when she very patiently dealt with my first blog advertising endeavor, I decided to send her a little something.  I had some designs floating around in my head, but this one spoke to me as really being her style, so the Illy Cowl was born.  (picture stolen from Ilene, with her permission of course)  Here's a couple close-ups.  It's an easy, fairly open lace-work pattern that looks far more complicated than it actually is.  It's also lightweight and comfortable on.    I played around and took some pics before I mailed it off.  Last week I worked on a purple version, which I inadvertently made wider than the original.  (Nothing like screwing up your own pattern, huh?)  I forgot that I only put one repeat of garter rows between the lace repeats, oh well.  The mix up caused me to run out of yarn in the middle of THE VERY LAST ROW.  Sooooo frustrating!  And it was during

GIVEAWAY!!!

As many of you know, I love working with hand dyed yarn.  I especially love Farm Girl Fiber yarn!  Bridgette has an eye for color and has a lot of fun with what she does.  That is why I am so super thrilled that Farm Girl Fiber is sponsoring this giveaway in honor of my opening an etsy shop!   Before the goods, a recap:  I made this Acorn Head hooded cowl for myself on Christmas this year.  I've known pretty much since I bought the yarn exactly what it was going to be, I just had to find time to do it.  This cowl was out of my FGF birthday yarn!  You can't tell in the picture, but it has just this hind of sparkle to it.  Love! I made 2 of these for two different swaps and I really wish I had made and kept one for myself while she still had the yarn!  It was so super soft and super bulky and fantastic!  Sometimes Farm Girl Fiber has very limited lots of things, so if you find something you love, you really need to snatch it up.  My whole Monday night knitting group went mad ov
