My Snow Day + some

First, a couple of things I hadn't gotten around to posting yet:
These coffee bean stitch markers I made Sunday night, but I just now got them listed in my etsy shop.  Aren't they adorable?  I bought the beads from Holly of Hollyrocks.  If you haven't been to her etsy shop, you need to go take a look around.  She has some of the cutest polymer clay jewelry and she is a fellow member of make:Tulsa.  I have met so many amazing people through make:Tulsa and every time we get together they inspire me.
Last night I finished the second Bishop Kelly / Tulsa Soccer Club hat for Dono.  Looks pretty much just like the first one, only a little shorter (by request).  Only one more of those to go.

I felt bad for Ben.  He shoveled and shoveled while I knit and knit, but the snow just kept coming.  I should have taken pictures when it finally stopped, these were only about halfway through the day.  The snow drifts in the back yard are amazing.  Don't worry, I fed him a nice breakfast and a yummy, although simple dinner.  I don't know if I have ever cooked real bacon in this house before.  Fakey-bacon, sure.  Real bacon?  Don't really recall, but probably not.  So that was a treat with scrambled eggs and hot biscuits.
The drifts are at least twice as tall as they are in the above picture.  We had such a hard time getting the little puppies to go outside.  I tried to get some pics of them in the snow, but they hated it so much.
As you can see, I had a very busy day.
I made this super adorable and soft little girl hooded cowl.  I may have gone too shallow on the hood, but we'll have to wait and see when she tries it on.  I can pick up and add on if I need to, since I was improving the design things don't always come out perfect the first time.
I also made the SF 49ers hat that a friend commissioned me to make.  Hopefully he likes it.  I got some people more familiar with sports than I am to approve the colors.
Next up is this project of awesome (if I do say so myself)  Its a chunky cowl with a big bow.  The bow is tacked down so it won't flop around on you.  The cowl is tall and cozy, but not too tight.
I love the creamy, classy winter white.  So pretty.
Basket of knitting!  Perhaps it will be even more full tomorrow night!  I still have a number of ideas in my head and a number of commissions left to make.  I think it's going to be a very exciting month.  I will be adding new things to my etsy shop frequently, so check in here or there every so often.

If you got hit by the snow, stay warm and stay safe!  Enjoy the time to knit or be with your family.  :-)  Hmm, do we need cookies soon?  Probably.

You are so freaking productive! It's crazy! I'm interested to see that cowl with a bow on someone. I can't quite visualize how the bow will sit.

OK so I have been thinking and I know I REALLY want you to teach me how to knit. SO, with that said I need a shopping list of things I should start getting before my lessons!!! Now, one small problem is that I am going to have to knit with larger needles because I have arthritis and holding the skinnier ones will be too painful. SO, I'm not sure what all I would even be able to do with the larger ones but thats ok! I guess just message me a list of sizes of needles, type of yarn etc. and I can start gathering my supplies! I can't wait to learn :-)

Amanda - the bow sits vertically along a scrunched seem. If I am ever presentable today, I will try and take a picture of it on. Snow days don't really lend themselves to presentability though.

Rachel - you might want to try some of my needles until we find a size you are comfortable with, but I will message you a list of basic supplies.

My goodness, busy girl! Thanks for the shout out too. I'm happy to work with you anytime! And I agree, Make:Tulsa is an inspiring bunch. I love the diversity within our group.

GIVEAWAY!!!

As many of you know, I love working with hand dyed yarn.  I especially love Farm Girl Fiber yarn!  Bridgette has an eye for color and has a lot of fun with what she does.  That is why I am so super thrilled that Farm Girl Fiber is sponsoring this giveaway in honor of my opening an etsy shop!   Before the goods, a recap:  I made this Acorn Head hooded cowl for myself on Christmas this year.  I've known pretty much since I bought the yarn exactly what it was going to be, I just had to find time to do it.  This cowl was out of my FGF birthday yarn!  You can't tell in the picture, but it has just this hind of sparkle to it.  Love! I made 2 of these for two different swaps and I really wish I had made and kept one for myself while she still had the yarn!  It was so super soft and super bulky and fantastic!  Sometimes Farm Girl Fiber has very limited lots of things, so if you find something you love, you really need to snatch it up.  My whole Monday night knitting group went mad ov

Ridiculously Easy 3x3 hat

So I was on my way out the door to the St. Louis Cardinals game a couple nights ago when I realized I didn't have any purse size knitting on hand. I grabbed a ball of bernat chunky and a pair of size 10 16" circs out of my travel bag and stuffed them into my purse to contemplate at the game. I wanted something so super easy that by the time the game started I wouldn't have to think about it. I feel almost silly sharing this pattern, but I figured why not. So here is the hat: I don't really intend to turn up the edge to make a brim, but my model had trouble keeping it on otherwise. Its really stretchy and should fit almost any adult head. Its long enough to cover your ears, so if you really want a brim, go ahead and flip up the edge. Ok, here goes the pattern: Ridiculously Easy 3x3 Hat Yarn: I used Bernat Chunky Needles: Size 10 16" Circs or preferred method of knitting in the round CO 60 stitches and join for knitting in the round. Work in 3x3 rib for 7 inche

Production Day & Giveaway!

There is less than a week until the Arkansas Fiber Arts Extravaganza. Even though my stitch markers didn't move well at Indie Emporium, I have high hopes for them this coming weekend. This audience will be completely different, for starters. This time it is a fiber specific event and the people who are coming should actually know what they are! Despite not being very down in inventory, I decided to have a production day to add variety to my stock. It started out as me thinking, oh I'll just make a few today while I have some time. Then I got going and decided I was having fun, so why not have some Chai and make some more. Riley helped by pushing me off the sofa more than once. Ripley did too, but I didn't catch a picture of him doing it. By mid afternoon I had opened new beads, fixed myself a tray of grapes and cheese, finished off the chai and was grooving at a pretty good pace. By the time I needed to get up and get going for my evening plans I had made 15 new sets,
